CRICKLADE resident John Palmer has been identified as the man who died after crashing his car into a garden wall in the town on Sunday morning.
The 86-year-old man, of Reeds in the town, was behind the wheel of a blue BMW, which was found covered in bricks by police, who attended the scene shortly before 10am in West Mill Lane.
The driver, who was in the vehicle alone, was found unconscious and despite attempts from paramedics, who were also in attendance, to save him, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The exact cause of the incident is not known at this stage but police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
