OVERWHELMING customer feedback has led to a TripAdvisor award for The Barbury Inn, much to the delight of Roger and Emie Hawkshaw who run the Broad Hinton pub.
The couple, who have been tenants at The Barbury Inn for a year, received a Certificate of Excellence last week, from the company which reviews hotels and restaurants across the world, because they consistently receive outstanding testimonials from their customers.
TripAdvisor gives the certificate to businesses who maintain an overall rating of at least four out of five. The pub, which serves a full food menu, cooked by Roger, currently enjoys a four out of five rating.
Roger, 42, who has 26 years experience of working in the hospitality trade, said: “It is a very nice surprise and we are delighted to be recognised after a year of very hard work.
“The award caught me out of the blue but it is certainly something we are proud of.
“We get a good amount of return customers which is usually a sign that you’re doing something right but to get this certificate is a nice accolade.”
The couple, who have an 19-month-old son called Fletcher, are originally from Dartmoor and moved to Wiltshire from Buckinghamshire.
Emie, 32, said: “We are a good team. Roger takes care of the kitchen and I host at the front of house. We are delighted with the progress that we have made in the last year and the consistency that we achieve.
“We are a local pub which serves good food, good wine and good beer. We cap that with excellent service.”
Marc Charron, TripAdvisor president for business, said that the company was pleased to give The Barbury Inn their award.

The pub has six full time members of staff and four who work on a part time basis.
Emie said: “We’d like to thank our staff, the owners Tiggi Wood and Charles Walker and, of course, our wonderful customers as this award is down to them and the support they regularly give us.”
