Three accidents cause road chaos around Swindon
THREE road traffic collisions have occurred in the Swindon area this morning.
At 9.37am two Ford KAs collided between Junctions 16 and 17 on the westbound carriageway of the M4, with two casualties suffering minor injuries.
One female was taken to Great Western Hospital to be checked over, but there is not believed to any serious threat to her health.
All three lanes were closed at one stage to allow emergency services to recover the vehicles, with one on its side and one off the carriageway. All three lanes were reopened at 10.30am according to Highways Agency.
At 10.39am there was another collision on the motorway, a short distance east between Junctions 14 and 15, where all three lanes were closed for a short period.
A caravan became detached from a Range Rover and hit the central reservation, though no injuries were reported.
The vehicles were recovered swiftly and the motorway reopened a short time later.
Most recently, a two-vehicle collision has been reported in Darby Close on Cheney Manor Industrial Estate.
At 10.57am, emergency services were called to reports of a 25-year-old woman suffering with neck injuries.
Early reports from police suggested it had occurred outside King Lifting, but the firm said an ambulance had gone beyond its depot and towards Swindon Council’s household waste recycling centre.
One car reversed into another and the ambulance was called for a pregnant occupant, but there are no major concerns for mother or baby.
