SWINDON Mayor Teresa Page teed off at the 21st charity golf day at Wrag Barn Golf and Country Club.
The golf day, which included a raffle and an auction, helped to raise £3,500 for the Children’s Cancer And Leukaemia Movement which supports youngsters diagnosed with the disease and their families.
Sixteen teams of four players took part in the day last week, including a team sponsored by Pebley Beach which included Swindon Speedway manager Alun Rossiter and former Swindon Town footballer Paul Hunt.
CALM chairman Richard Crowley said: “It was a fantastic day and the weather was brilliant. it was a bit cloudy in the morning but then it brightened up during the afternoon.
“Last year we raised £3,000, so it is good that we have done even better this year.
“The money won’t go towards a specific project but will go to support the children and families who need it, as we give grants to families to help with costs after diagnosis and also for convalescence holidays.
“In the evening the awards were presented by the deputy mayor Andrew Bennett.”
