ASHTON Road could be closed to traffic throughout the day after a 50-year-old man sustained serious head injuries in a collision with a car.
At around 10.50am, police were called to a two vehicle collision involving a motorcyclist and a Nissan X-Trial. The motorcyclist, a man in his 50s, will have to be airlifted to hospital as a result of his injuries.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “The collision occurred on Ashton Road at the junction with Minety crossroads. The road is likely to be close for several hours. The B4040 will be closed in both directions, and the road from the main crossroads at Ashton Road through to Minety will be affected.
“This is going to affect traffic coming from Wootton Bassett who are advised to use an alternative route.”
