ALEXANDER Kinninmonth and David Green, of Baker Tilly accountants, have been appointed liquidators to Cakes & Ale café.
Based in Devizes Road, Old Town, the café – which employed eight staff – had been trading for only 11 months when it closed last month.
The liquidators are working to find a new tenant for the property.
Alexander said: “The concept behind the Cakes & Ale café was to use local suppliers wherever possible and support the local economy, but unfortunately there was not enough time for the business to become established in its niche market before outgoing costs became considerably higher than the income gained.
“Despite the best efforts of the directors to cut costs, and despite the forbearance shown by the landlord in allowing the first six months of trading rent-free, there was no alternative to placing the company into liquidation.”
