THE Adver team will unleash their competitive streak at Sunday’s Dragon Boat Race as they vie for victory against 16 others teams.

No fewer than 18 reporters, sales consultants and editors, dressed as Wally, of Where is Wally fame – courtesy of Skywalkers fancy dress shop, in Faringdon Road – will attempt to row to victory on Sunday at the event staged by The Rotary Club of Swindon Phoenix and raise funds for the 160 Appeal.

Team captain and deputy news editor Scott D’Arcy has been motivating the troops and is confident they are ready to take on other contenders at Coate Water.

“Training may not have been as consistent as I would have hoped but everyone is motivated and that’s what really matters,” he said. “We are all determined to do our best for Prospect Hospice. Failure is not an option.”

In total four of the 18 teams taking part are raising money for Prospect Hospice The Adver has set out to collect £160,000 for the Wroughton charity over the next year. So far fundraising has reached the £50,000 mark.
