EMMA DUNN looks forward to a weekend to remember at 2000trees

WITH music from more than 80 of the best new and underground acts from the worlds of rock and indie, 2000trees festival promises a weekend to remember.

The 5,000 capacity music festival, set in Upcote Farm in Cheltenham, takes place from today until Saturday.

Winner of the Grass Roots Festival and Best Small Festival awards in 2013, this year they are coming back bigger and bolder with bands including Frightened Rabbit, Public Service Broadcasting and Band of Skulls.

Do not expect tranquillity as Dan le Sac and Scroobius Pip make a return performance, and wattage will be tested with the likes of Kids in Glass Houses and DZ Deathrays.

There will be plenty more entertainment with the likes of Tall Ships, Wolf Alice, The Bronx and Blood Red Shoes too.

A spokesman for the festival said: “2000trees is all about the music. We’ll give you more than 80 of the absolute best new and underground acts from the worlds of rock and indie, plus some more established acts to close out the night.

“This year’s fancy dress theme, as suggested by the public will be TV shows/ DVD box sets, so get your thinking caps on and show us your best Walter White, Jessie Pinkman, Nick Brody or Marge Simpson.

“There are prizes of booze and free tickets for the best dressed and as usual we can’t wait to see what you come up with.”

Weekend tickets, which are £75, include two nights’ camping. Saturday day tickets are £40. Children under 10 accompanied by an adult are free.

The festival promises a friendly, intimate atmosphere and there will also be a whole range of food and locally produced ciders, ales and lagers.

Bands start at 4pm today, midday tomorrow and midday on Saturday.
