POLICE closed a section of Fleming Way for half an hour on Monday night as they talked a 28-year-old man down from the top of a roof.

After being called to reports of the man on top of a building they closed a section of the road from Halfords to Spring Gardens as a precaution while officers talked him down.

A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “We had concerns for a male who was on a roof so we closed the road off as a precaution.

“We were called just after 10pm to reports of a male on top of a roof in Spring Gardens close to the Salvation Army hostel.

“Officers attended the scene and managed to talk the man down.

“The man, from the Swindon area, was brought down from the roof by 10.25pm, and was taken from there to a medical health facility.”
