FOUR employees from npower's headquarters in Swindon have taken to the nation’s highest peak in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, the company’s charity partner.

The Ben Nevis challenge is part of a 2014 ‘10 for 10’ campaign to mark 10 years of partnership between Macmillan and npower.

The campaign aims to help Macmillan ensure no one has to face cancer alone by raising £150,000, which the energy supplier vows to match pound for pound.

This weekend Melanie Jack, Liz Clutton, Heather Tyrer and Clare McDougall tackled the UK’s tallest mountain in the wind and rain, together with 36 other npower employees from across the UK. They also had special guest Sophie Greenberg, corporate volunteering manager of Macmillan Cancer Support, join them for the gruelling trek.

Education manager Liz said: “It was extremely hard and the weather was miserable at times, but it didn’t dampen my excitement to climb Ben Nevis and get sponsorship for Macmillan.”

The Swindon team have contributed to raising over £7,800 for this challenge. Thanks to them and thousands of others at npower, the value of the 10-year partnership has now grown in excess of £8m.
