THE Animal Asia Walk for Freedom event takes place this weekend. The three mile sponsored circular walk around Peatmoor Lagoon and Shaw Forest will begin at 11am on Sunday.

Walkers are being urged to come along with your friends, family and dogs and help raise money for the Swindon Animals Asia Support Group’s new campaign, Adopting a Nanning Bear.

Animals Asia need all the help they can get as they have just taken over a bear farm in Nanning, China where 130 bears have been kept in terrible conditions for many years and been milked for their bile.

They are now in the process of converting the farm into a sanctuary and are encouraged people to join their Walk for Freedom and start making a difference.

The charity is working in partnership with We Love Pets, a dog walking, pet boarding and dog sitting company.

The walk costs £10 per person to register and children go free.

Sponsorship forms are also available if people would like to collect more.
