THE people of Old Town were given a lunchtime treat yesterday as Wilson’s Butchers on High Street celebrated its first anniversary.

As a thank you to everyone who has supported the business in its first year, a special hog roast was put on to help people enjoy the sunshine.

Martin Wilson, who owns the shop, said: “It’s been a really successful first year and I am pleased with how everything has gone.

“People around here have given us a lot of support in the last 12 months so we wanted to give something back as a way of saying thank you.”

Despite a few shops closing in Old Town in recent months, Martin says it is still possible to be successful.

He said: “I run this shop with my right hand man Joe Tipping. It is all about offering something different and a unique service.

“If the customer wants something we don’t have then we will do it. We are just going to carry on what we are doing and are looking forward to many more years of success.”
