IT MAY have been the last day of the school year, but pupils at Wroughton Infant School were busy yesterday packing up bags of donated school uniform to be sent to Clarens School in South Africa. Ellie Groves, of the Friends of Wroughton Infants, said: “We are lucky that parents at this school are so generous in donating their pre-loved uniform back to the school.

“We sell this throughout the year to raise funds, but this year we have also had enough to be able to send some over to South Africa.”

Local accountants Morris Owen have also helped by offering to post the packages on behalf of the school.

Charlene Hyner-Anderson, of Morris Owen, was on hand yesterday to help with packing.

She said: “We are really pleased to help out with sending these clothes to a school that really needs them.”

Clarens Intermediate School, which teaches children aged four to 11, is linked with Wroughton Infant School and has many children who will benefit greatly from this donation.

Over the summer the school will receive pictures of the children receiving the clothes and these will be shared with the Wroughton children next year.
