VIRAL hepatitis is the world’s eight biggest killer.
And so, in 2010, the World Health Organisation made World Hepatitis Day one of just four official disease-specific world health days to be celebrated each year on July 28.
On Monday, to mark the day of awareness, and to call for access to treatment, better prevention programs and government actions, groups from all over, including the Hep C Positive group in Swindon came together.
The group, which was set up by Phil Spalding, 56, who once had Hepatitis C, has gone from strength to strength since it was formed in 2012.
It originally met on a bi-weekly basis but has been so successful it now meets weekly and, so far, hundreds of people have passed through its doors.
The group meets every Monday at 6pm at the Broadgreen Community Centre, in Broadgreen. For more information telephone 07580025116.
