MORE flexibility and easier access will be on the cards for people looking after a loved one as Swindon Carers Centre prepares to move into new offices in the town centre.

The charity will leave its premises in Wood Street and relocate to the Swindon Advice and Support Centre in Sanford House along with several other organisations including the Citizens Advice Bureau.

The move will allow staff to further improve services available to carers and better cater to their needs.

“We are delighted to be moving,” said Swindon Carers chief executive Catherine Johnston.

“It will mean we will be more accessible for carers. Location is really important. It may not be such an issue if people are driving but some people need to take two buses to come to Old Town.

“Office space will be comparable but we will be able to access one-to-one rooms and more meeting and activity rooms. It will allow us to be more flexible.”

The transformation of Sanford House began last year, with an investment of £350,000 funded jointly from Swindon Council and the Swindon Clinical Commissioning Group.

The centre will see a number of organisations who specialise in providing information, advice and support come together under one roof. Swindon Carers Centre is expected to move in by the end of the year.
