THAMESDOWN Transport has issued a warning to motorists to be alert for vandals after a windscreen was smashed by someone throwing a ‘missile’ from a footbridge over Tewkesbury Way.

The incident happened on yesterday at approximately 3.35pm on one of Thamesdown’s busiest routes.

The bus, which was carrying passengers from Fleming Way to Middleleaze, managed to stop safely despite the damage. There were no injuries and the incident is under police investigation.

The driver reported seeing a number of youths standing on the bridge as the bus approached, and as the vehicle passed under an unknown object was thrown and hit the windscreen.

If anyone saw anything or has any information then call Wiltshire Police on 101.

What do you mean 'the bridges were sorted'? The bridges didn't throw bricks at buses, the feral youth did. Are the police doing nothing at all about this?

If they catch the scrotes who did this, charge them with attempted murder (because that's what it is). Do Thamesdown buses have forward facing CCTV cameras in which case it *might* be possible to get an image of the perpetrators standing on the bridge and circulate some mugshots?

Sadly this is not a new thing and the Old Testament side of me tends to think if caught and convicted, drop them in front of a bus to experience what 10 tonnes of justice feels like.

What are you talking about? Aside from calling me a 'muppet!!' your big idea is to fortify all bridges in Swindon? Do I take it you are not an income tax payer?

B.T.W. I've no interest in the thumb up / down chase that some of you care so much for.

I am sure if they could find who did it they would but the chances of that will be very low as with most petty and opportunist crime. There are simply not enough officers or resources to cover the whole town and never will be so we need a bit of a reality check in situations like this.
