AS part of the commemorative events to mark the anniversary of the start of the First World War there will be a special flower festival.
The flower festival, which will depict many apects of the conflict, is just one of many events designed to pay homage to the soldiers who served during the Great War 100 years ago this year.
Royal Wootton Bassett Town Councillor, Susan Doyle, who helped to organise the event, said: “The flower festival is a result of a keen collaboration between many members of and groups in our community in Royal Wootton Bassett. It will be a thoughtful commemoration of the start of the First World War; a chance for visitors to spend time in reflection and to remember those that both served and died in that war.
“With the music as a backdrop to the many beautiful flower displays we hope to provide a tranquil space in a busy day to reflect and remember.”
The flower festival will run over three days from September 12 through to September 14 in St Bartholomew’s and All Saints Church.
On the Friday and Saturday, the display will be open to the public from 10am to 4pm and on Sunday from 12pm to 4pm.
Refreshments will be available from The Church Croft.
