GOURMET Burger Kitchen is the latest restaurant company to announce it is taking a unit at the new Regent Circus development.

The national chain has signed up to take one of two vacant units at the site with negotiations to fill the one remaining restaurant space ongoing.

When the complex is complete it will be home to a multi-screen Cineworld cinema, Morrisons supermarket and restaurants including Nando’s, Ask, Jimmy Spices, Coal and Prezzo.

Ashfield Land, which owns the site, said it is delighted to welcome Gourmet Burger Kitchen to the development.

James Digby, a director at Ashfield Land, said: “I am delighted to confirm that the Gourmet Burger Kitchen has signed to occupy a unit and be part of this exciting scheme.

“They are a fantastic addition to our exciting line-up.

“We are currently talking to a number of well-known companies about taking the remaining unit.”

James said that he expects the building work at the site to finish in September. The units will be fitted out by their tenants.

The supermarket will open in the autumn with the remaining businesses expected to open in the winter. Initially, it was hoped the whole site would open together.

The building work at the site has encountered some delays.

James said: “I would say we are now in the final stages of construction and we would expect building to be finished around mid-September. At that stage we will hand everything over to the tenants for fitting out so I would expect everything to open at either the end of the year or early next.

“We have had a few delays but that is construction. Everything is still progressing well and it will open as planned.”

A meeting is being held tonight giving residents the opportunity to discuss any issues they may have about the new road layout around Regent Circus which has previously caused concerns. It will start at 6.30pm at the Civic Offices.
