EMMA DUNN finds out about a fun way to get fit

PEOPLE who want to get into shape can try their hand at pole dancing, aerial silks and aerial hoop, thanks to Emily’s Pole Fitness.

Classes, which take place at BSS House in Cheney Manor Industrial Estate, are for men and women of all shapes, sizes and ages.

Emily Smith, founder of Emily’s Pole Fitness, said: “Pole dancing is a fantastic way to keep fit and tone up but it’s not all about fitness, it is about feeling confident and comfortable in your own skin.

“We teach all shapes, sizes and ages, we like to teach you how to dance and feel amazing about yourself and accept who you are as the beautiful person you are inside and out.

“I was insecure and extremely shy before I started pole dancing.

“I could never have imagined teaching this beautiful art form to others or performing on stage in international pole dancing competitions alongside the best in the industry.

“Pole dancing truly has changed me for the better and I feel great about myself and don’t care what people think. I feel honoured to teach others and help them overcome their insecurities by pole dancing and feel awesome about themselves.

“Some people worry they aren’t strong enough to even give it a go but trust me we teach complete beginners and you all start with the basics.

“Aerial arts such as aerial silks, aerial hoop and trapeze are a few of the other fitness activities we teach here. Complete beginners can try aerial silks, hoop or trapeze and feel like a circus performer.

“We teach all the basics in a safe environment and again these circus art forms help you build strength and confidence. Not everyone on the street hangs upside down in their fitness classes so it is something very special and exciting to be a part of. “ Each group class is 70 minutes, and include warm-ups, conditioning exercises and stretches. There are up to 16 people in a pole class with no more than two people per pole. There are no more than 12 people in an aerial class with no more than four people per apparatus.

Emily added: “People should come and join our crazy pole and circus family at Emily’s Pole Fitness to feel part of something amazing!

“You make lots of new friends, learn some crazy fun dancing and tricks and feel absolutely awesome about yourself.”
