WILTSHIRE Police are warning motorists to be aware of several abnormal loads that will be passing through the county this weekend.

At approximately 6.45am on Sunday, three specialist load transporters carrying metal frames will be escorted in convoy by Wiltshire Police from West Wilts Trading Estate, Brook Lane, Westbury to junction 18 of the M4. The transporter will then continue its planned route to Eastleigh, Hampshire.

The transporters and their loads will each measure six metres (19ft 9ins) wide, 4.42m (14ft 6ins) high with an overall length of 18.47m (61ft) and gross weight of 44 tonnes.

Routes that are likely to be affected by the transportation are the B3097, A350 northbound, A420 and A46. The transporter will then join the motorway at junction 18, heading east on the M4.

The transporters will be slow moving and will have the potential to create congestion. It is estimated that the transporters will take approximately three to four hours to get from Westbury to junction 18 of the M4.

Wherever possible, disruption will be kept to a minimum but hauliers and motorists are asked to be patient if they come across this load.
