SWINDON swimming star Jazz Carlin will be showing off her medals at the Link Centre’s annual open day on Saturday.

The former Tigersharks swimmer, who won gold medals at this summer’s Commonwealth Games and European Championships, will be at the West Swindon leisure centre from 1.45pm to meet members of the public before holding a question and answer session with members of her local swimming club.

The Link Centre will open for a fun-packed day of free activities between 10am and 5pm, including 15-minute introductory ice skating sessions and Cool Kid’s Club from 10am to noon.

A competition will also run throughout the day to name the ice arena’s four new Snowmen stability aids with the winners picking up a free family skating pass.

In the pool there will junior beginner lessons (for those aged over five), while children aged seven and over who can swim at least 100m can take part in Rookie Lifeguard sessions along with Flip and Fun Diving which involves jumping, tumbling and splashing. These will then be followed by Wet ‘n’ Wild fun for all the family and promotional sessions from the Tigersharks and Dolphins swimming clubs.

Visitors can head for heights under the expert tuition of the Link’s climbing instructors on the indoor climbing wall, and also the mobile climbing wall. Taster sessions for a whole host of fitness classes will be on offer from 9am to 12.45pm, and toddlers and children under 12 can bounce on trampolines, while seniors enjoy tea dance master classes.

There will also be dance mats for everyone to try and Sanford Table Tennis Club will be running taster sessions on the main concourse.

The library is open as normal from 9.30am to 4pm with a special story time session for pre-school children at 10.30am.

For those new to the Link Centre or who haven’t been there for some time, staff will be on hand to give tours and advice on how to get active.
