AHEAD of World Suicide Prevention Day tomorrow, mental health experts in Swindon are keen to remind people that no matter how bad things get, help is available.

Many people who suffer from depression, anxiety and stress do not realise that recovery is possible with the right support – and that support is on their doorstep.

Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust offers a wide range of services in Swindon through their LIFT programme aimed at helping people cope with depression, extremes of mood, anxiety and stress.

For many, this prevents the condition from escalating, but people experiencing more serious problems can get specialist help through their GP.

AWP consultant nurse and suicide prevention expert Chris Ellis said: “The earlier people seek help, the better and accepting help from friends, relatives or professionals is vital.”
