A MAN was assaulted and forced to hand over money during an early-morning attack in Swindon.

Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses following the robbery, which took place at around 6.15am on Sunday, at the junction of Fleming Way and Islington Street.

A man was approached by another male who began talking to him.

The suspect then violently assaulted the male, forcing him to hand over money.

A passer-by in a vehicle disturbed the attack and the suspect then ran off in the direction of The Parade.

The suspect is described as a white male, aged between 25-30, 5ft 8ins tall, of medium build with short dark hair and was cleanly shaven. He was wearing a t-shirt with stripes, dark jeans and a dark jacket.
