THERE are not many actors who can say they play Guy Fawkes, Prince Albert and Catherine Parr in one show.

But these are just three of the characters Benedict Martin takes on in Barmy Britain Part Two by Horrible Histories Live on Stage.

The show, which will be at the Wyvern Theatre from September 16 to September 20, promises to tell the history of Britain from Boudicca to the First World War.

Ben, who has 20 costume changes during the show, said: “We want people to leave thinking that was good entertainment but I didn’t know that about Queen Victoria or Guy Fawkes.

“It’s pretty packed in there. It’s not just boring old dates like people often associate with history – we try to give it a comedy element.

“This show in particular is more fun for the grown-ups than the other Horrible Histories Live shows might have been because there is a lot more on a different level. We have jokes that only the adults will get so they will enjoy it as much as the children.”

Ben, who has been involved with Horrible Histories Live for about 10 years, said people will be learning without realising through songs, comedy and plenty of audience participation.

The four-strong cast do their own versions of television shows during the performance, including Who Wants to Blow Up Parliament? with Guy Fawkes and King Edward I doing Take Me Out with Robert Bruce and William Wallace.

There is also an interview with some vicious Vikings in Relocation, Relocation, Relocation. In the second half, the audience gets to wear 3D glasses too.
