COFFEE culture comes to one of Old Town’s best-known hair salons from tomorrow.
The launch of Vu:Du Coffee comes as the Victoria Road business unveils a newly-refurbished salon area at the rear of the building and a secret garden.
The front area has been transformed into a coffee house.
Business owner Shay Barry describes the change as part of a natural evolutionary process which has continued since Vu:Du began in 2008.
He said: “This is a really exciting step for our brand, merging a high end salon experience with a high end destination coffee offer to ensure our customers get a more sociable experience.”
The coffee house area includes plug sockets by every table, free newspapers and free wi-fi.
Shay said: “It’s the perfect destination for business lunches and meetings or lunch with friends. People can even just stop off, grab a coffee and check their Facebook.”
The changes have been influenced by a period Shay spent in Brighton, when he noticed a trend for adding coffee shops to businesses ranging from florists’ to antique shops.
He added: “I thought this would be an excellent idea for Vu:Du.
“The building lends itself to this format and Old Town has a nice, quirky, friendly vibe.”
