THE torrent of racist abuse and death threats unleashed by Jasvinder Singh on school pupils and teachers in January was his reaction to sustained bullying his daughter had allegedly received, a court was told.

Singh, 44, attended Swindon Magistrates Court with the assumption he would be fighting for justice for his daughter, who he claims has been on the end of five years of bullying at her school.

But the defendant was in for a shock when he discovered he had been found guilty of racist abuse in his absence at a trial in Chippenham last month.

Yesterday Singh, of Thresher Drive, was due to be sentenced, but he was unaware of this and requested time to seek advice from a solicitor.

The offence relates to an exchange on the boundary of a Swindon school, which cannot be named for legal reasons, on January 21, when Singh threatened a group of teenage pupils, as well as their teacher.

Pauline Lambert, prosecuting, said: “Mr Singh has a daughter, who is a pupil there and he has sat outside the perimeter of the school boundary.

“He was heard to repeatedly shout at a group of four to five male students.

“The teacher goes towards Mr Singh and asks him to stop swearing.”

The prosecution continued to detail the words used by Singh, which revolved around numerous names and claims the teachers at the school were “white” and “useless.”

Singh also threatened to return to the school that evening with a group of friends to kill the teacher.

“Mr Singh’s behaviour was aggressive, his arms were flailing about and he was angry,” said Mrs Lambert.

“While he was shouting the racist abuse, there was a group of students between 11 and 16-years-old, who would have heard these remarks.

“He was seen to be pointing his finger in a jabbing motion. The teacher describes him as very angry when the officer requested him to attend Gablecross police station.

“The teacher said he tried to ask him what was going on, what the problem was. He wanted to tell him to stop swearing at the children.

“He said the swearing was aimed at him. He said the man got back into his car, got out again and continued swearing.

“The teacher was worried for the pupils and his thoughts were keeping them safe. They shouldn’t have to hear this.

“If there’s an incident with regards to bullying, he should be speaking to him and not shouting this abuse.

“One of the pupils said he was very offended by what this man said because he’s a white English person and the man was very rude about this.

“He took his comments as being racist.”

Before he was sent from the dock, Singh spoke to the magistrates.

He said: “When, with all that’s gone on, for five years, will my daughter’s bullying be dealt with?

“Where was the police, the teachers? Why have you lot let it go on this long?

“The police turned a blind eye to her bullying. Are you lot living in the real world?”

Singh will be sentenced at Swindon Magistrates Court on October 6.
