THRILL-seekers are being invited to trek across the glacial volcanic landscape of Iceland for Prospect Hospice.

The mammoth expedition will not be held until October next year, but the charity is calling on fundraisers to challenge themselves and take up the life-changing opportunity in aid of thousands of patients in Swindon.

On Thursday, October 16 at 6.30pm, the Wroughton hospice will host an open evening for adventurous spiritts in and around Swindon to find out more about the trek. The event will feature a presentation by organisers Different Travel on all that would-be trekkers can expect to encounter when they sign up.

“Information evenings like this are a brilliant way to get across the excitement that lies ahead for anyone who signs up for a challenge like this,” said Prospect fundraiser Mike Kennedy. “Different Travel are hugely experienced in this type of adventure, and through their eyes people who come along will gain a real insight into the glaciers, the volcano, the lagoons and the northern lights they are likely to see on the trek.”

Overseas challenges have become an increasingly popular way for the hospice’s supporters to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

In 2013 Prospect Hospice’s overseas challenge took plucky fundraisers to the Everest base camp, and this autumn will see trekkers tackling the arid climate and challenging terrain of the Sahara desert.

The registration fee is £315 with a minimum sponsorship target of £2,500 per participant.
