A RACING kart and spare tyres were stolen from a garage in Swindon.

Thieves made off with the £1,000 racing kart, a Formula TKM Sporting Brand Go Kart with white side pods, from a garage in Chapel Street.

The theft was discovered by the owner late on Wednesday evening.

Police said a rear window had been forced open to gain entry before the kart was taken out of the front of the garage at some point between 8pm and 10.45pm.

PC Richard Gardner, from the Crime Management Unit, said: "It’s an unusual item to take as it’s not one that could be easily be used to joy ride or be used anywhere other than an actual track due to its low ground clearance.

"It’s likely those responsible knew what they were after as a vehicle would have been needed to take the kart and tyres away."

Anyone with any information about the incident should contact PC Gardner at the Crime Management Unit (CMU) on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.
