POLICE have released an image of a suspect in the violent knifepoint robbery which took place in Eldene early this month.

It is the second robbery involving a blade in the same location in the space of a month, although officers are not linking the two incidents, with a group currently on bail in connection to the first.

Between 10.39pm and 11pm on Saturday October 4, an 18-year-old, who is not from the local area, was approached on Eldene Drive by a group carrying a knife, who chased, assaulted and robbed him.

Six suspects have been arrested following a similar incident at the same location on September 9, in which a group of up to seven young men assaulted two teenagers and threatened them with a knife.

Both incidents occurred close to the bus stop in Eldene Drive, near the Morrisons supermarket.

The circumstances of each incident have led officers to believe they are not connected, and police would like to speak to two men indentified at the scene of the crimes.

The first is being treated as a suspect and is being sought urgently by officers.

DC Greg Farmery, of the Priority Crime Team, said: “Six people have been arrested for the robbery which occurred at the same location last month.

“The two incidents are not thought to be connected.

“The six who have been arrested are currently on bail, and are all aged between 13 and 16 years of age.

“This male was robbed by a group of youths aged between 18 and 22.

“The victim was walking through Eldene where he was chased by a group of people, beaten and then property was taken.”

A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “The incident took place some time between 10.39pm and 11pm on Saturday evening.

“The first suspect was described as a white male, well built, about 5ft 11ins in height and aged between 18 and 19.

“He had dark, short stubble, dark hair and spoke with a local accent.

“He had a prominent jaw line and was wearing a light grey pullover and an adidas hoody with a central pocket.

“On his lower half he had dark tracksuit bottoms on with cuffs on the ankles.

“The second male is described as white, scrawny, with dark shaded ginger shaved hair.”
