A PARTY was held yesterday to celebrate the King William Playgroup moving into its new premises.

There was cake and games as users of the playgroup, both past and present, came along to see the cutting of the ribbon.

Having previously been based at both King William School and the Savernake Social Hall, the group now has its own building in Savernake Street, which has been put together with the help of volunteer groups.

“It is a really exciting day and its fantastic to have so many people linked to the playgroup turn up,” said Teresa Smith, who is the manager.

“Next year is our 25th anniversary so it is nice to have our own place.

“It means the children have their own space and we don’t have to pack away every day. It will really help with their development.”

Nicola Hobdell, the playgroup’s chairwoman, said: “This would not have been possible without all the generosity and time of the people who have helped us so we are very grateful.

“The building looks brilliant and it is down to them, as well as the staff and parents.”

The new building was fixed and decorated by NKS Contractors, B & Q, A&M Flooring, Prestige Fire, Francis George Solicitors and Artisan Tool Hire.
