SWINDON Academy was glorious in green as pupils and staff dressed up to raise money for the NSPCC.
Children spent the week learning about the charity and the work of Childline, and finding out more about the support it offers to youngsters who find themselves in difficult situations.
Simon Hall, from the chaplaincy team at Swindon Academy, said: “It’s gone really, really well. We’re hoping to have raised in total more than £1,000 for the charity, which is very good indeed.
“It’s a charity particularly close to our hearts because of the work that they do to support children, and in fact some of our children personally thanked the charity for what they had done to help them.
“We held a number of assemblies and activities about the work that they do.”
Caroline Morgan, a spokesman for the NSPCC, said: “We are so grateful to everyone at Swindon Academy for going green for us.
“The children are so brilliant and really behind it, it’s great to see children helping other children. They are hoping to raise £2,000 which is great as that will take the amount we have raised for Go Green this year to over £10,000.”
