FAMILIES with a sweet tooth will soon be able to satisfy their cravings when the former Job Centre is transformed into a fancy dessert parlour.

Builders have recently moved in to the empty unit in Clarence Street to renovate the building in preparation for its November opening as Kaspa’s Desserts.

Offering a range of ice creams, waffles and sundaes, Kaspa’s is promising a family friendly experience.

Kaspa’s currently runs six outlets and is planning to open three more, all located in London and along the M4 corridor.

The franchisee of the Swindon branch, Rafi Zaldi, said he believes people in Swindon will welcome the new style of eatery.

“If you look at all the other places we have there is a really good family atmosphere,” he said.

“The prices are good value so we find that attracts families. There is a really relaxed feel.

“We offer a range of waffles, ice creams, crepes and smoothies, so there is something for everyone.

“I don’t think there is anything else like it in Swindon and I am confident that people will take to it really well.”

Workers have been on the site for several weeks to transform it into an American-style diner – a look Kaspa’s is well known for.

The unit has stood empty for many years since the Job Centre moved to its location in Princes Street, but Rafi believes it is the ideal location.

He said the construction of the Regent Circus development would be a big boost but was not the reason the company chose the corner premises.

“To be honest, we chose it because it is really spacious,” he said.

“You probably can’t tell from the outside but it is really big, which is perfect for what we need.

“The building of the supermarket and cinema is a benefit, but the site itself and the nearby parking were the big reasons we chose it.

“We didn’t really want to open in the town centre because we wanted to be unique and not mixed in with all the other restaurants.

“I’m looking forward to when we open and I think it will do really well.”

Refurbishment will take another few weeks, before the official opening on November 21.
