A COMMUNITY cinema group is celebrating after being recognised in a national award scheme.

Cricklade Cinema has been commended in the Best New Film Society Of The Year category in the Cinema For All awards, with the certificate shown off to the audience of 110 ahead of Tuesday night’s screening of About Time.

Cricklade Cinema committee chairman Lester Buck said: “We are delighted to have received this commendation, especially as we haven’t been going for very long.

“We pack out the town hall every time we show a film and it is the audiences that make Cricklade Cinema a success.”

The committee also presented a bouquet to Barbara Hoffbauer of Swindon Film Society, who had been a guiding light at Cricklade Cinem since it was established. Barabara and husband Hans recently moved to Somerset.

Cricklade Cinema’s next film is British period drama Belle, being shown in the town hall on November 25 at 8.15pm. More details at www.crickladecinema.org.uk.
