AN adventurous mum is edging closer to her dream of cycling across North Indian for Prospect, with nearly £280 collected at a darts contest.
Caroline Hull, 47, will set off on the 500km Rajasthan bike ride in November 2015 in aid of the hospice, which cared for her mother Dorothy until she succumbed to bowel cancer eight years ago. She was 76.
She will be accompanied on the gruelling ride by her brother-in-law, Richard. They each have to raise £8,000.
Caroline’s latest fundraiser, a fun day and darts tournament at Coleview Community Centre, made a further £276, bringing their total to £5,258.
“My mum never went into the hospice but they were there for her at home,” said the deputy manager at the Spotted Cow at Coate. “They were always there for the family. You don’t know what to do, you have not been through it before and they’re there to help.
“You never know who’s going to need it and they do fantastic work when you do.
“When it comes down to the end of your life, you are scared and it’s an emotional time. The simplest thing they say or do makes a big difference to you and your family.
