THE victim of a shocking and brutal assault has agreed to reveal the extent of his injuries after two men have been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

Police are appealing for more information from the public into the circumstances of the incident as their suspects remain on bail.

The victim of the assault, a local man who is not being named, had been walking through poorly lit Faringdon Road Park shortly after midnight on Wednesday, November 12, carrying a rucksack on his shoulder.

At around 12.10am he was approached by two men, thought to be in their late teens or early twenties, who rained blows on him and made off with his bag and wallet.

The two men, one of whom may have been dressed in a grey tracksuit with a hood over his head, then escaped in the direction of Park Lane.

Their victim later attended hospital for treatment after suffering severe facial injuries Police want to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or may have any information about the attack.

A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “Wiltshire Police are appealing for information following a robbery which took place in Faringdon Park.

“At around 12.10am a local man was walking through Faringdon Road Park when he was approached by two men who assaulted him.

“The victim was punched to the ground and the men took his rucksack and wallet before running off in the direction of Park Lane.

“The victim received hospital treatment for injuries.”

Investigating officer Detective Constable Mark Harris said: “As we can see in the photograph the victim sustained nasty facial injuries which required hospital treatment.

“He was shaken by the attack.

“I am appealing for the help of the community and would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the robbery or who has information regarding those responsible.

“Any information could be crucial to the investigation.”
