A SUPPORT group aimed at people coping with the loss of a loved one from suicide has received funding to run a series of workshops.

Last week, the self-help charity Survivors of Bereavement By Suicide – SOBS – held its first workshop with Steve Carter which was aimed at engaging men who are grieving.

Steve, who lost his son to suicideused the workshop to encourage male survivors to engage in a range of activities.

Jacky Parry, who leads the group, said: “The first workshop went really, really well. We have quite a few men in the group and they were all up for it.

The group received the grant for £700 from Swindon Council’s grassroots fund.

“We are extremely grateful for the funding, it,” said Jacky. “The group was only set up last year, but we’ve had over 55 referrals.”
