10 THINGS TO DO IN AND AROUND SWINDON THIS WEEKEND

1. The last chance to see The Woman in Black at the Wyvern is Saturday, with performances at 4pm and 8pm.  Described as the most terrifying live theatre experience in the world, tickets are between £18 and £26. Call the Box Office on 01793 524481.

2. A Christmas Craft Fair will be held at the Swindon Therapy Centre for MS on Saturday from 10am to 2pm - a chance to buy some unique gifts for friends and family while raising funds for the centre, at Bradbury House, Westmead Drive. Entry is free.

3. Winter Wonderland Charity Ball in aid of the Swindon Women's Refuge takes place on Saturday night at the MECA from 7.30pm to 1am. Enjoy a three course dinner, live entertainment and raffle. Tickets are £35, call 01793 520300.

4. Swindon Town play Fleetwood Town at the County Ground on Saturday, with kick off at 3pm. For tickets call 0871 876 1879.

5. The Swindon and Cricklade Railway Santa Specials begin this weekend, with the opportunity to ride a steam train and meet Santa in his grotto. Tickets are £7 for adults and £10 for children, including a present. For more information call 01793 771615.

6. Swindon Farmers Market will be outside the Outlet Village on Sunday morning from 10am to 4pm, with more than 20 stalls to browse. 

7. Highworth Christmas Lights Switch On takes place on Friday from 7pm. There will be music from the Highworth Silver Band, mince pies fairground rides, carol singing and an appearance from Santa on his sleigh. The event takes place in the Market Square. 

8. A Christmas Craft Fair to raise money for Reach Inclusive Arts will be held at Riffs Bar on Saturday from 1pm to 3pm. There will be a Reach stall selling Christmas decorations and gifts that have been made by the 'Crafty People Art Group' over the duration of the year. There will also be an assortment of local craft stalls selling hand crafted gifts ideal for the perfect Christmas presents. 

9. Guitarist Richard Durrant will bring his candelit Christmas concert to the Wyvern on Sunday from 7pm. The concerts will also feature specially commissioned visuals, the wonderful singing of special guest Amy Kakoura, the pre-recorded voice of Barry Cryer in Durrant’s own wintry guitar suite “The Polar Bear” - and lots of candles. Tickets are £15 for adults or £10 for under 16s. 10. A Dinner and Dance Evening to raise funds in aid of the Ebola Crisis in Liberia will take place at the Gudwara Punjabi Community Centre in Kembrey Street on Saturday from 3pm until late. There will be a fashion show, drummers, guest speakers, buffet and more. Tickets are £20 in advance by calling 01793 978607 or £25 on the door.
