TELEVISION personality and The Sun columnist Katie Hopkins has dragged Swindon into the national press for the wrong reasons once again.

Barely more than six months after labelling the town an “ugly place no-one cares about,” the former Apprentice contestant has used her column to describe Swindon as “Godforsaken.”

In addressing the influx of German markets to shopping districts over the Christmas period, the 39-year-old said: “The brown huts of German markets pop up everywhere, flogging wares mass-produced in Swindon or some other Godforsaken place.”

The mother-of-three was questioning the popularity of the markets, given our nation’s desire to avoid Germans at every turn during the rest of the year.

Steve Tittensor, a dentist at Ebenezer House Dental in Victoria Road, responded to the column on Twitter.

He said: “@KTHopkins there’s nothing wrong w Swindon Katie, it’s full of hardworking taxpayers. We have our probs same as everyone of course.”

In May, the columnist suggested convicted terrorist Abu Hamza’s family move to Swindon from London.

“Surely the most sensible thing would be to move them to an ugly place no one cares about - like Swindon,” she wrote.

“Find them a grotty semi in the rough end of town next to a roundabout and a KFC and everyone will be happy.

“They can crack on doing Swindon-type things such as, erm, watching traffic, and the taxpayer can then save a bob or two.”
