AVERIES Recycling (Swindon) Ltd, the company whose waste site in Marshgate was the scene of an eight week blaze last summer, has been taken over by administrators.
Environmental permits for the company to store waste, along with its sister company Swindon Skips, were revoked by the Environment Agency last month while investigations continue.
On 29 December Averies Recycling (Swindon) Ltd was handed over to administrators Jamie Taylor and Lloyd Biscoe after an appointment in the High Court of Justice.
The Environment Agency have previously ordered Averies to clear the stockpile of waste from the Marshgate site by March 4.
If the order is not complied with, Swindon Council could face a £2m bill to get the site cleared.
Swindon Skips, which saw 750 tonnes of wood and waste go up in flames in December 2013, has been in liquidation since November of last year after a general meeting of the board found that it could not continue to operate due to its outstanding liabilities.
