AN 84-year-old man was taken to hospital after an incident in Old Town today
Commuters faced delays after the road was closed at around 4.30pm, when emergency services were called to reports of a man who had collapsed.
The man, who was unconscious, was treated at the scene before being taken to Great Western Hospital and a section of the road closed around Wood Street, causing traffic problems between Croft Road and St Margaret's Road.
A police spokesman said the incident occurred at around 4.25pm and that investigations into the events were ongoing.
Drivers were urged to find an alternative route as officers investigated the scene, with rush-hour traffic being delayed while the road was closed.
