MEMBERS of the Swindon Dance group are doing a celebratory jig after winning more funding.

The group, which is based in Regent Circus, has secured cash from two national grant-giving trusts – The Jack Lane Charitable Trust and The Austin and Hope Pilkington Trust, which gave £500 and £1,000 respectively.

Each trust has funded different projects carried out by the dance-development organisation.

The first is Salto!, an inclusive dance class for people over 16 with physical and/or learning disabilities.

It allows dancers to express themselves artistically while exercising, making friends, building a community and increasing their confidence.

The second project is a pilot dance programme called Strictly Seniors, designed to bring dance to the older population in Swindon.

Lizzie Bond, development manager for Swindon Dance, said “Without these grants, we simply wouldn’t be able to offer the high-quality dance opportunities that we do.”
