ARTISTS are being urged to register for this year’s Swindon Open Studios event to have a chance to be involved in the town-wide festival.

Each year, painters, sculptors, potters, and crafters are throw open their doors to welcome the general public into the mysterious working world of the artist.

Swindon Open Studios event takes place annually on the first two weekends in September with venues in and around Swindon.

Last September more than 30 individual artists opened their studios to visitors and many other contributors’ work was shown in several group exhibitions and co-operatives too.

Planning for the 2015 Open Studios has already begun and if you are an artist thinking of taking part, organisers are encouraging you to sign up.

Rachel Pryor, who helps to organise the annual event, said: “Visitors are always pleased to meet the artists and enjoy discussing work and techniques and have the opportunity to buy a wide range of artworks.

“There’s a surprising range, including stone sculpture, mosaics, paintings, ceramics, metalwork, fine pencil drawings, textiles and mixed media works on show.

“We really need people to apply to take part as soon as possible.

“If you are taking part in Open Studios for the first time, we do have a mentor to guide you through the process.”

Artists have until April 17 to sign up to take part.
