A BRICKLAYER who was spared jail for drunken town centre violence has had his curfew suspended because he is homeless.

Aaron Gleed was told he had to be inside at night for three months when he was put on a suspended sentence for affray.

But Judge Peter Blair QC, sitting at Swindon Crown Court, removed the order until the 25-year-old can save up enough from his wages to get a room of his own.

He said β€œThe curfew I imposed is lifted and instead he will have an electronically monitored curfew between 8pm and 5am commencing on February 13 with the address being notified to the court in writing by defence solicitors in the week commencing February 9.’’

Gleed, formerly of Frobisher Drive, Walcot, had taken part in a running battle which started outside a town centre strip club in June last year.

He and another man took off their belts to use as weapons as they fought in the street in front of revellers.

After hearing he had given up booze the judge imposed a four-month jail term suspended for 18 months, with supervision and a curfew.
