RETIRED publican Pete Suckling and his wife Hilary will be able to pick up the mail without the fear of big bills after winning the Adver’s Win Your Fuel Bill competition.
Hilary was delighted to find out she had scooped first prize in the competition, which will see the couple’s fuel bills paid up to the value of £1,300.
And 70-year-old Hilary said the win was a welcome boost.
“It was a very welcome phone call to tell me we’d won,” said Hilary, who lives with husband Pete, 71, in Northern Road.
“At least we don’t have to worry now as fuel is very expensive.”
She said the couple, who have three children and two grandchildren, would now be able to potter around at home with peace of mind thanks to the win.
“It’s the first time I’ve won anything,” Hilary added.
“I do these competitions for something to do, but normally I post them off and never hear about it again.
“So to get the phone call telling me I’d won, it was a ‘wow’ moment.”
