AUTHOR Virginia Bergin was at Kingsdown School yesterday to inspire the next generation of writers.
The event saw her give a talk to Year 9 pupils from the school as well as ones from Nova Herod, Dorcan Academy, The Commonweal School, The Ridgeway School and Highworth Warneford School.
Virginia has writen two books aimed at teenagers, titled The Rain and The Storm, the latter being released yesterday.
Lin Curtis, Kingdown School’s learning resource centre manager, said: “Virginia held a question and answer session with the pupils and we could have gone on for hours.
“Her two books are of The Hunger Games mould. She described the story as being one of an apocalypse with humour.
“Sales of the books proved so popular that we ran out. It was really nice to get students from different schools together for the event.”
Virginia is currently touring the south, promoting her books and giving tips to youngsters about how they can become successful writers.
