A GROUP of youngsters from Swindon will be strutting their stuff in the house of Mickey Mouse after securing an opportunity to perform at Disneyland Paris.

The group, who all train at Stagecoach Swindon and are aged between eight and 18, will set off for French shores for their performance, on July 23.

The group secured the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sing and dance on stage in front of their families and thousands of international visitors, as part of the Disney Performing Arts OnStage programme.

Principal of Stagecoach Swindon, Sheryll Fox, said the students had been dedicated in their pursuit of the opportunity.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and to be performing on such a large scale is a huge testament to their continued hard work,” she said.

“Last year there were a reported 19,000 people watching.

“I am sure that the children will all feel like superstars and gain so much from the experience.”

The group was chosen following an audition process alongside 24 other schools across the UK, which saw them perform four separate auditions in December.

Now, they have started practising their routine following their success while returning to their weekend classes in January.

Jay Bradfield, a student at Stagecoach Swindon, said: “I’m so excited to be given the opportunity to go to Disneyland this summer.

“I’ve never been before so I’m looking forward to meeting all the characters and going on the rides.

“But most of all, I’m looking forward to performing in front of so many people and sharing the experience with all my Stagecoach friends.”

Stagecoach Swindon is part of a network of more than 600 part-time Theatre Arts Schools Worldwide.

Early Stages classes are available for children aged four to six and Main Stages classes take place for six to 18 year olds.
