SANCTUARY Extra Care’s centre in Wroughton helped an event supporting Dementia UK yesterday.

Tenants at Harry Garrett Court, in Willow Walk, took part in the Time for a Cuppa event, a national campaign raising funds for the charity’s work, which runs until Sunday.

The festivities also served as a memory activity for residents, with them bringing in notable belongings and telling stories about them.

Items on show included wedding dresses, gas masks and vintage teddies. Paula Curtis, extra care manager, was delighted by the way the fundraiser had gone. She said: “The event’s been a fantastic chance for our tenants to share stories and learn more about each other.

“We’ve had a fascinating insight into the lives our tenants lived in their younger days and it was wonderful to be able to see a direct link to the past in the form of these belongings.”

Residents at Harry Garrett Court live independently but also take part in carer sessions.
