A MAN who supplied crack cocaine has asked to be remanded in custody because he is a homeless addict.
Alan Harris, 40, pleaded guilty to peddling the class A drug on Thursday, May 29, last year when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court.
But before the case could be adjourned for a pre-sentence report Harris, formerly of Lyndhurst Crescent, Park North, asked the judge to send him to prison.
Rob Ross, defending, said: "Mr Harris is presently homeless and he is using drugs. He would like to be remanded in custody."
Recorder Maria Lamb said: "That is very pragmatic, I will adjourn to March 20. I will order a pre-sentence report.
"I say this for the record: you are quite familiar with the type of sentence handed out for this type of offence.
"I will remand you in custody at your own request which is quite sensible."
