YOUNGSTERS at New College are celebrating their differences this week.
The college is hosting events as part of Equality and Diversity Week, with students from all demographics, cultures and nationalities who attend the Walcot college taking part in activities to learn more about each other and themselves.
Yesterday, a belly dancing display and a taste of different flavours from around the world were on offer, and later this week there will also be stands and visits and discussions hosted by organisations and agencies including the lesbian, gay bisexual and transgender group, Out of the Can.
Trudy Murphy, equality and diversity co-ordinator at New College, said: “Every year we hold equality and diversity week and it’s a chance to celebrate all the different views and experiences our students have.
“We have over 100 different nationalities at our school and it’s an opportunity to share the differences and have a bit of fun.”
