PARALYMPIC star Katrina Hart paid a visit to Shaw Ridge Primary School to inspire the next generation of athletes.

The sprinter, who won a bronze medal at the 2012 London games, went to the school on Wednesday and oversaw a series of workshops with each year group.

Shaun Carter, the school’s PE co-ordinator, said: “It was really good and the kids were brilliant.

“The reason we wanted to do this was to inspire the children to reach their goals and achieve many great things.”

The event was organised by the Sports for Schools group.

The group sees schools raise money to fund a visit from an athlete and then the sum is split between the organisation and the school.

Sports for Schools’ share goes to funding aspiring athletes, with Shaw Ridge Primary School planning to spend their money on buying sports equipment.

Shaw Ridge Primary School is still tallying how much was raised.

Shaun said: “This is a huge thing for us going forward and will provide a welcome boost.”
